Hollywood Classic 'Gone With The Wind's Screening Cancelled?

The most popular Hollywood classic film 'Gone with the Wind' has been cancelled from being screened at a cinema hall in Memphis. The viewers have reckoned it to be an insensitive movie. The film was taken down, as the board of The Orpheum Theatre received several comments after the filmed was screened on August 11.

The theatre group in a statement said, “The Orpheum appreciates feedback on its programming from all members of the mid-south community. The recent screening of 'Gone With the Wind' at the Orpheum on Friday, August 11, 2017, generated numerous comments. The Orpheum carefully reviewed all of them”. One of the users commented on the Orpheum's Facebook page calling the film "racist", while another commented that they will surely rid this community of all tributes to white supremacy.

Further, the Vivian Leigh's script copy of "Gone With The Wind" will be up for auction. The Victor Fleming directorial has also been dropped from the summer cinema series planned for next year. Earlier, 'Gone with the Wind' has won eight Academy Awards, including best picture and best director, is based on life during the Civil War and Reconstruction period. However, the 1939 movie will remain an all time favourite for many.
