The Homesman to be distributed by newcomer Saban Films

Last Sunday night Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman had its premiere at Cannes Film Festival and following that the North American distribution rights of the film have been reportedly acquired by a new player in the market, Saban Films.

Saban Films has been launched by media tycoon and billionaire Haim Saban on May 6 and it made its debut with The Homesman. The distribution company has won over several other competitors who showed interest in the film even before its Cannes screening. This film is an adaptation of the Glendon Swarthout novel which also stars Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep and Hailee Steinfeld. Jones has said in a statement, “I am delighted that Saban Films has chosen ‘The Homesman’ to begin their venture into film release.” He also added, “Our company has full confidence in Saban Films and I sincerely hope we will serve them well.”
