46-year-old Hugh Jackman will be playing the role of the devious pirate ‘Blackbeard’ in the forthcoming movie ‘Pan’. Known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, Hugh was excited about the different role and the idea of the movie. Directed by Joe Wright, ‘Pan’ will focus on the origin of Peter Pan.

The actor told Entertainment Weekly at Comic Con, “Joe knew the real me. This nice guy stuff is boring. There was one line in J.M. Barrie’s original book that we used as the main source material on this. There’s one line — page 53 — that Hook originally learned his trade as the bosun for Blackbeard”. About the role of Blackbeard, Hugh stated, “It had my face with white, cracked makeup on, with the wig of Marie Antoinette literally superimposed and the costume of Louis XIV. And I was like, I’m in”.

Pan is set for a release date of October 9 this year. It will be produced by Berlanti Productions and Ratpac-Dune Entertainment. Along with Hugh, Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara, Amana Seyfried and Levi Miller will also be seen in the movie.
