‘I'm very excited’: Joe Manganiello on ‘The Batman’

Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello is quite excited for his role in the upcoming solo Batman flick tentatively titled ‘The Batman’. Joe will be playing the role of Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke. He will be taking on the caped crusader who is, once again, being played by Ben Affleck.

Talking about his role, Joe shared, “I'm very excited. I just started kung fu, qigong and cutting with a live katana blade. That's been a lot of fun. I grew up rooting for the villain”. He added, “These characters mean so much to so many people and there's a real opportunity to polarise an audience or have them walk away maybe not agreeing with my character but understanding why he does what he does. That's a really fun challenge”.

This will be the first time the 40-year-old will be portraying a super villain. Deathstroke is a very important character in the DC universe. He made his first appearance in 1980 in New Teen Titans #2. Initially, Affleck was supposed to direct the project as well but he stepped down from the chair in February. Director Matt Reeves was then brought in to helm the project which does not have a release date as of yet.
