Jason Statham’s ‘Meg’ Postponed By 5 Months

Jason Statham’s ‘Meg’ Postponed By 5 Months

The latest on Jason Statham’s shark thriller ‘Meg’ is that Warner Bros. has postponed its release by 5 months. The project was initially planned for release on March 2, 2018 but now, it will hit theatres on August 10, 2018. The reason, while not official, is that there was an untitled Fox/Marvel film planned for release on March 2 so ‘Meg’ was pushed back to avoid any clashes at the box office.

Jon Turteltaub is directing the film which also stars Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, Jessica McNamee, Rainn Wilson and Ruby Rose. ‘Meg’ is being produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Belle Avery and Colin Wilson. It is based on the 1997 novel by Steve Alten titled ‘MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror’.

Statham will be playing the role of a former Naval captain and expert deep-sea diver who has faced the ancient Megalodon shark once before in his career. He will be recruited by the Chinese who have been running an international underwater observation program which has been disrupted by the creature. After avoiding its clash with the untitled Marvel flick, ‘Meg’ will now be going against Universal’s ‘Scarface’ remake.
