Jeremy Renner All Set To Play Doc Holliday In An Upcoming Biopic

Jeremy Renner is preparing to master his skills in gun fight as he has been signed in to play the legendary gunslinger John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday in an upcoming biopic. The movie will be based on two novels 'Doc' and 'Epitaph: A Novel Of The O.K. Corral' written by Mary Doria Russell. The novels chronicle the life of John Henry 'Doc' Holliday, a former dentist who turned into a Wild West gunfighter.

The Combine, a production house run by Renner and Don Handfield, will produce the movie in collaboration with Palmstar's Kevin Frakes. Palmstar Media obtained the rights Mary Doria Russell’s novels. "We are excited to re-introduce this classic American character to a whole new audience by chronicling Doc Holliday's incredible transformation from Average Joe dentist to a man who Wyatt Earp called the 'nerviest, speediest, deadliest man with a six-gun (he) ever knew'," Renner and Handfield said in a joint statement.

Well, Jeremy Renner is not the first person who will portray John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday. After playing the gunslinger, the Avenger star will join the long list of actors who have played Holliday in the past ranging from Kirk Douglas ('Gunfight At The O.K. Corral'), Stacey Keach ('Doc', written by Pete Hamill), Dennis Quaid (Kevin Costner's 'Wyatt Earp') and Val Kilmer ('Tombstone'). However, it is not clear who will direct or pen the script.
