Johnny Depp To Play The Invisible Man In Universal Monsterverse

Deadline has reported that Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has been roped in for the remake of The Invisible Man. Currently, no director or writer has been attached to the project. The movie will be part of the monster universe that will commence with The Mummy.

Universal’s 1933 feature film, The Invisible Man was based on the 1897 novel by H.G. Wells. The character was played by Claude Rains and was killed by the end of the movie. There have been several adaptations after that which include The Invisible Man Returns, Invisible Agent and The Invisible Man’s Revenge.

The new film will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. The Universal Monsters film will also have another film that is untitled as of yet. There is a possibility that The Invisible Man will be released on March 30, 2018 as the date has been marked for a Universal Monsters film release.
