Rumours were doing the rounds that Johnny Depp may not star in Brett Ratner's next titled 'The Libertine'. Speculations were rife that due to his divorce controversy, the actor may not star in the upcoming film. But the director’s representative has confirmed Depp’s involvement in the film.

Ratner's rep said that the Black Mass actor is very much part of the project. He said, "Johnny is absolutely still attached. Brett is very excited to work with him". Reportedly, the film is in its development stages and soon an official announcement will be made by the makers.

'The Libertine' will be a sex scandal movie and will be based on the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a French politician who was alleged of sexual assault by a hotel maid in 2011. The politician settled a civil suit with the maid for an undisclosed price. The project was announced at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
