    Judi Dench To Star As Queen Victoria in Stephen Frears’ Next

    Judi Dench is all set to play the role of Queen Victoria for the second time in her upcoming venture 'Victoria and Abdul' with director Stephen Frears’. The role is not new for the actress, who will be wearing the British crown again, as she earlier did in John Madden’s Mrs. Brown. Dench was nominated for Academy Award for playing the historical role of a queen in the 1997's hit.

    The drama is based on author Shrabani Basu’s book Victoria & Abdul: The True Story of the Queen’s Closet Confidant. The plot of the feature is based on a real-life friendship developed between Victoria and Abdul Karim, a clerk from India who came to England for the queen’s Golden Jubilee. It said to capture the unique relationship between the British monarch and her trusted Indian aide in the late 1800s.

    It’s alleged that the film’s shoot will start from September at locations in India, Scotland and the Isle of Wight.The film is expected to hit the theaters in 2017.It is being co-financed by Focus Features in an association with BBC Films.
