Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’ has been based on the novel by Shûsaku Endô, published in 1966. The movie stars Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver in the lead roles. Neeson recently spoke about the film and shared that the events portrayed in the cinematic adaptation occur in today’s times as well.

‘Silence’ tells the story of two 17th-century Jesuit priests who embark on a quest to find their mentor and also, preach Catholicism. They travel from Portugal to Japan and face several hardships on their journey. The mentor is played by Neeson while the two priests are portrayed by Garfield and Driver.

The Taken actor stated that one of the most exciting aspects of the story is that it is relatable to current times as well. “Working with Marty is a joy and an education in creative filmmaking. But one of the most exciting things about this story that appeals to me is its relevance. Some of the very things described in the novel and the screenplay in great detail are actually occurring in the world today”, shared the veteran actor.

Having already opened in several theatres worldwide, ‘Silence’ will make its way to India on February 16.
