Matt Reeves Shares Insight On ‘The Batman’

In a promotional interview for his film ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, Matt Reeves shared some insight on his upcoming Batman movie. Originally, the movie was supposed to be directed by Ben Affleck but the actor gave out a statement saying that he will be stepping down from the director's chair. Now, Matt has revealed that he is trying to make the audiences empathize with the character.

“In all of [my] films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become that character, and you emphasise with that point of view. There's a chance to do an almost noir-driven detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what's going on inside of his head and inside of his heart”, shared the director.

Matt also spoke about the character of Ceaser in the Planet of the Apes franchise and compared him to Batman. He said that he sees the same emotion in both of them as they are trying to “sort of grapple within themselves to find a way to do the right thing in a very imperfect, and to some degree corrupt, world”. ‘The Batman’ does not have a release date as of yet but what’s confirmed is that Affleck will be playing the titular hero.
