There have been quite a few changes with the upcoming solo Batman flick since its conception last year. Initially, Ben Affleck was supposed to direct the film, as well as, act in it but, the Argo actor stepped down from the responsibility of directing. Then, Matt Reeves was brought on board to helm the project and now, he has stated that the work has been started from scratch.

Previously, Ben and Geoff Johns had written the script but Matt will not be going forward with it. “It’s a new story. We’re starting again”, Matt shared on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. He also spoke about his personal outlook as a director and stated, “I can fail for every single reason because of myself. I don’t want to fail because of something that I don’t believe in in the first place – because I’m not going to know how to do it. I can respect that somebody else might know exactly how to do it”.

Currently, there is no release date attached with the project tentatively titled ‘The Batman’. With a new script, it is possible that Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke may not be present in the film. Matt is currently preparing for the release of his latest flick ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ which will be hitting the screens tomorrow, July 14. The movie stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn and Amiah Miller, along with others.
