New TV Spot Released for Southpaw

Jake Gyllenhaal starrer Southpaw has got a new TV spot which features Eminem’s new song ‘Phenomenal’. Jake will be playing the role of Billy “The Great” Hope, a Junior Middleweight Boxing Champion. The TV spot reveals some details about the plot of Southpaw.

The story revolves around Billy who seems to have everything going his way. Leading a happy life with his wife (Rachel McAdams) and daughter (Oona Laurence). A great career, until misfortune hits him hard and everything starts to fall apart. To redeem himself, Billy seeks help from a retired fighter and trainer named Tick Willis. The role of Tick is played by Forest Whitaker.

Antoine Fuqua will be directing the upcoming flick. Antoine is known for his direction in ‘Training Day’ and ‘The Equilizer’. Denzel Washington (Oscar winner for best actor – Training Day) played the lead in both movies. Southpaw will hit theatres on July 24 this year.
