    People's Choice Awards Honor Tom Hanks, Ellen DeGeneres, The Big Bang Theory And Others

    The 43rd People's Choice Awards were held on January 18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The event was hosted by Community actor Joel McHale and was broadcast on CBS. Unlike the Golden Globes and Oscars, where the nominations are determined by a panel of critics and other industry insiders, the People’s Choice Awards are voted on by fans.

    The event honored several celebrities for their work in the industry and beyond. Tyler Perry was given the award for Favorite Humanitarian, Dwayne Johnson was named the Favorite Premium Series Actor, Tom Hanks was Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor and Blake Lively was awarded with the Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress award. Ellen DeGeneres won three awards which takes her total to 20, which is a People’s Choice Awards record.

    Some of the other winners include ‘Outlander’ for Favorite TV Show, ‘Man With a Plan’ for Favorite New TV Comedy, ‘This is Us’ for Favorite New TV Drama and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ for Favorite Network TV Comedy. Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory was awarded with the title of Favorite Comedic TV Actor while Sofía Vergara, from Modern Family, was the Favorite Comedic TV Actress. Bollywood actress, who has made a name for herself internationally with her show Quantico, Priyanka Chopra, won Favorite Dramatic TV Actress.
