Robert De Niro In Talks To Star In 'The War With Grandpa'

Robert De Niro is in talks to star in the movie adaptation of Robert Kimmel Smith’s novel The War With Grandpa for Dimension Films. De Niro will next star in The Weinstein Company’s Hands of Stone. He is currently working on Martin Scorsese‘s next gangster movie The Irishman and The Comedian, which costars Leslie Mann.

The screenplay was written by Lisa Addario and Joey Syracuse. Matt Ember and Tom Astle are reportedly recreating it up. The War With Grandpa tells the story of a young man who gives up his bedroom to his grandfather after his grandmother dies and then pulls a series of pranks to drive the old man out.

The War With Grandpa will be produced by Phillip Glasser, Marvin Peart and Rose Morris Peart and executive produced by Jane Rosenthal and Barry Welsh. The upcoming comedy will be directed by Tim Hill. The book The War With Grandpa was first published in 1984.
