Russell Brand fined $500 for throwing reporters phone out of window

British comedian Russell Brand, who has damaged the mobile phone of a reporter recently, has been sentenced to 20 hours of community service and a fine of $500 despite he pleaded not guilty at a hearing at a New Orleans court yesterday. The Hollywood actor has to carry out his community service before the end of August anywhere in America. A court spokesman told the BBC that the community service must be carried out at a "suitable public entity". Russell, who allegedly threw the reporters phone out of the window, wrote about the incident on Twitter that he took the phone as "a tribute" to late Apple boss Steve Jobs. "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory," he posted.
