Shailene Woodley's Trespassing Trial Pushed

    Shailene Woodley's Trespassing Trial Pushed

Actress Shailene Woodley's pipeline protest case has been pushed back for the second time. The Fault in our Stars actress is facing charges linking to her arrest during a protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline in October last year, which she streamed live on Facebook. She pleaded to the court that she was not guilty to criminal trespass and engaging in a riot, both misdemeanours that carry a greatest penalization of a month in jail.

The 25-year-old actress had to visit the court on January 25. But her hearing had been pushed back until February 22. And now the news has it that and the trial has now been pushed back again, to March 31, because of a scheduling divergence.

The actress was among 27 activists arrested as part of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe's efforts to stop erection of the USD 3.8 billion pipeline. The tribe leaders declared that the pipeline plans had endangered drinking water and cultural sites. In December, the protesters emerged victorious when the US Army Corps of Engineers rolled out an official announcement to re-route the pipeline.
