Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran Atop MTV VMA Nominations

Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce and Mark Ronson are on the top of the nominations list for the MTV Video Music Awards. Pop singer Taylor Swift has received nine nominations followed by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran who received six nominations. R&B singer Beyonce and DJ-producer Mark Ronson both got 5 nominations each.

The contenders for the Video of the Year award are ‘Bad Blood’ (Taylor Swift), ‘7/11’ (Beyonce), ‘Thinking Out Loud’ (Ed Sheeran), ‘Uptown Funk’ (Mark Ronson) and ‘Alright’ (Kendrick Lamar). Taylor Swift was also nominated for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for her music video ‘Blank Space’. The awards will be given out on August 30.

Miley Cyrus will be hosting the awards this time. She tweeted, “MTV won't let me perform" and "So I'm hosting this year's VMAs”. It will be aired live from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. The award show began in 1984 and helped MTV establish itself in the entertainment industry.
