    True Blood Actor Nelsan Ellis Passes Away

    American movie and television actor Nelsan Ellis portrayed the role of Lafayette Reynolds on HBO’s television series ‘True Blood’. The actor died at the age of 39 from complications of heart failure on Saturday. The actor was born in Harvey, Illinois and pursued his education at Thornridge High School and later attended Juilliard in New York City.

    The actor played the character of Lafayette, a gay short order cook, on the HBO drama from 2008 to 2014. He appeared in several movies and television series. Television network company HBO shared their grief of Nelsan’s demise in a statement which read as, “Nelsan was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of 'True Blood'”. The statement futher read as, “Nelsan will be dearly missed by his fans and all of us at HBO”.  

    The creator of ‘True Blood’, Alan Ball also shared his grief and was quoted as saying about the late actor, “a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me. Working with him was a privilege”. Ellis was also a playwright and a stage director.
