Life Jothe Ondu Selfie Gave A New Scriptwriter To Sandalwood

Kannada film Life Jothe Ondu Selfie has given a talented and new scriptwriter to the industry. The movie is directed by Dinakar Thoogudeepa, for whom it is a return of sorts after Sarathi. And, the film has been written by his wife, Manasa. 

“She is quite the movie buff and occasionally tells me ideas that she thinks could work into scripts for films. In all our years together, I have always discouraged her, as I didn’t find her ideas exciting enough,” he says. His first film was a romantic drama, which he followed up with a thriller and then a complete commercial masala flick. “Every time Manasa broached the subject of whether I would produce a film based on her script, I told her that having one film-obsessed person (me) in the family is enough. But all that changed the day she gave me a one-line narration of what eventually became Life Jothe Ond Selfie,” says Dinakar.

The debutante scriptwriter, Manasa, admits that she did give her husband a hard time during the making of the film. “I was particular about the execution and argued every time he made subtle changes. After seeing the film, I know that whatever he did was for the best of the project,” says Manasa. But now that she has made baby steps in film writing, will she pursue it more aggressively? “Oh no, I had an idea and Dinakar thought it was worth a film. She explained that she is a voracious reader and film buff. Writing is a one-off thing for her and she is not sure if she will do it again. Manasa just wants to see what people think of her first attempt”.
