Sonu Gowda Talks About Her Struggle To Make A Comeback In The Industry

Almost after four years Sonu Gowda is making a comeback into the entertainment industry. While everyone thought that she has put an end to her acting career in order to concentrate on her personal life, the Kannada actress has recently explained her absence, saying that she didn’t receive any offers during the time. Sonu also revealed how she bagged her comeback film ‘Dyavare’.

“I was on a break for almost four years and thought that making a comeback would be next to impossible. But then, (director) Yogaraj Bhat sir called me one day, wondering why I wasn't doing films. I explained to him that I wanted to, but was not getting any offers and he asked me if I would do a film for his associate Gadda Viji. I had known Viji sir for a while and was more than happy to be a part of the film, Dyavare”, she said in a statement.

The news of her comeback had spread like wildfire and soon Sonu was flooded with offers. “But I could take up only a few as the dates were clashing and only the teams of Goa and Half Mentlu were willing to work around their schedules to accommodate me. Once I started work on Dyavare, I got a couple of offers from Kollywood as well, one of which was with director Sri Balaji. He recommended me for the film 144, which made me a household name (as Shruti Ramakrishna, her actual name) in Tamil Nadu. 144 then led to me being part of Kavalai Vendam, a Jiiva film that I am currently shooting for”, she said.

The Sandalwood actress continued, “In between, I also did the Kannada movie Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu and I have committed to another project in Sandalwood, so I am happy with the way things are for me in films now. But I must admit that it was difficult to make this comeback”. Sonu Gowda is gearing up for the release of ‘Half Mentlu’ as of now and she is quite excited about the same.
