My statements were misinterpreted: Suresh Gopi on Vizhinjam project

Mollywood’s "angry-young-man" Suresh Gopi has irked many people across the nation for his recent controversial speech in which he reportedly encouraged Hindus to join together to make Vizhinjam project a reality.  While news circulated that his statement on Vizhinjam port will lead to communal divide, Suresh Gopi justifies himself saying that he has been hugely misinterpreted.

While visiting an exhibition at Trivandrum, the actor told reporters, "There were a volley of comments before and after that particular statement, which was actually misinterpreted, and it just got blown out of proportion. It seemed like those who wrote editorials against me had already kept it ready. The media shouldn't try the techniques it uses against politicians with artistes. I was just doing my bit to make the Vizhinjam project a reality, regardless of my film star status and without looking for any personal gains. It is one of the requirements that I had presented before Narenda Modi when I met him on March 5 last year, even before his prime ministerial candidature was announced."

Talking about his entry in politics, Gopi said he is not sure about it and added, "Having said that, I will not say a no if I am invited again."
