    Prolific Filmmaker I V Sasi Passes Away

    Renowned filmmaker I V Sasi who has made more than 150 films till date, had died on October 24. The 69-year-old filmmaker was battling his life against prolonged illness. He died on the way to the hospital from his residence in Saligramam, Chennai. He was one of the filmmakers, who understood the aesthetics of revolution.

    He had made a mark with his way of making a film in the industry, mesmerising a multitude to do his bidding in front of the camera. Sasi was a person, who brought in crowds. Filmmaker M Padmakumar, who had assisted Sasi in abound 18 films said, “It is similar to taming an elephant that had turned violent with a mere glance”.

    Sasi leaves behind wife and actor Seema and his two children Anu and Ani. Some of his political blockbuster films are ‘Eenadu’, ‘Iniyenkulum’, ‘Vartha’ and ‘Adimakal Udamakal’. Sasi had been honoured with the Nargis Dutt Award for the best feature film on national integration in 1982 for Aarodaam. The Kerala government also presented him with the J C Daniel Award In 2015.
