Box Office: Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay Finds Support From Single Screens On First Day!

While it may have botched up in its attempt to take the audiences by storm (or if we can say an avalanche), Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay wasn’t completely downhill on its first day. The emotional action thriller dominated the mass circuits across the country and made sure to put up a competitive tally at the box office.

The all Ajay Devgn show collected 10.24 crores on Friday after it failed to take the desired opening early in the day. Given the humongous hype attached to the film, while it was expected to register at least a 15 crores opening, the film failed to rake in big numbers from multiplexes. However, going by how poorly 2016 has fared so far, a solid 10 crore plus opening should not be considered underwhelming by any means.

Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay is now amongst the top openers of the year that includes film like Sultan, M.S. Dhoni, Rustom, Airlift, Housefull 3, Fan and also Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that released alongside. While the Karan Johar directorial dominated the urban centers and put on an impressive 13.30 crores, Shivaay would consider itself unlucky for having lost the audiences.

With the long Diwali weekend ahead, word of mouth is going to play an extremely crucial factor for acceleration of the films. If Shivaay remains unaffected from all the negative reports coming its way, it should bring its tally close to 40-45 crores by Tuesday.

At the moment, Ajay would be hoping Shivaay brings less of Shoonya and more of Ikaaay!
