'Jai Gangaajal' Is A One-Time Watch, Over-acting Ruins The Powerful Plot!

This is just another good cop-bad cop story with a little predictable twist. Rating: 3.0

This film has touched all the niche points of a film centering around Police force. Too bad they all have been done before. There's a little change which is a female protagonist. Abha Mathur (played by Priyanka Chopra) mouths 'Oh-so-strong' dialogues, but they are difficult to convince as the expressions remain a tad too bland and all the same. The self-righteous cop played by Priyanka Chopra takes the cues from 'Singham' and 'Dabangg' with a rusty accent of her own.

Manav Kaul and Prakash Jha excel in their respective roles!

Manav Kaul, who plays the role of the villainous MLA of Bankipur, gives an absolutely brilliant performance. His subtle nuances and gradual progression into the complete antagonist of Abha Mathur as Bablu Pandey is commendable. You can see his expressions through his eyes.

Prakash Jha plays the role of Police Officer B.N. Singh who displays the real shades of gray in the film. From the villain's side to his journey to the side of Abha Mathur is worth watching.  His dialogues are well spoken and convincing. He has acted and directed well.

The screenplay is good, but too many chase scenes get repetitive after a while!

Yes, we know it's a cop movie so there are going to be some car chases, but in this movie they get really repetitive and it gets a tad boring to see Priyanka Chopra stepping out of her jeep all the time whenever anything happens. Yes, that is a very small detail but it kept bothering me, so I guess it is indeed visible.

Action scenes are well executed but the soundtrack and background score seem a bit off and do not gel well with the ongoing mood of the film during some moments. Sometimes, the action scenes slip into too much drama and hype.

Overall, Priyanka Chopra has tried well. Prakash Jha has given a fabulous performance. Manav Kaul sets the bar really high. Ninad Kamat and Murali Sharma did extremely well on their part while playing the roles of Dablu Pandey and Munna Mardani.

    Worth a shot!
