“Chaahe 100 Sahi Kaam Kar Lo, Koi Yaad Nahi Rakhta, Ek Galat Ilzam Aur Sabne Bhula Diya?” You think the narrative is steering away to something special? Well, we certainly do. The trailer of Azhar is as fascinating as you had expected it to be. These 150 seconds of this controversial take on one of India’s most successful captains, is a trip down to the Indian cricket of 90’s. Mohammad Azharuddin has been one of our favorite cricketers, only we didn’t know his cricketing career was going to come to such a sad end. What this trailer of Tony D’Souza’s directorial does is answer the questions we have been looking to find for years.

First things first – Is Emraan Hashmi good enough to do justice to Azhar? Arguable! But he sure as hell tries his best to get into the skin of the man he has been assigned to portray on screen. Take a look at this and you’d know this is the closest an actor could get to resemble Azharuddin.

Oh that white helmet, the black locket, the decisive walk and that stance, it is almost exactly Mohammed Azharduddin on the big screen. The trailer shows enough elements for Azhar to be a full proof biopic, only if the screenplay has the strength to pull it off. The cricketer’s journey, the fall, the match fixing, the outrage! The biggest of the scandal – his love life involving his first wife Naureen played by Prachi Desai followed by his second wife, the controversial actress Sangeeta Bijlani. Nargis Fakhri plays that glamorous character.

From his rise to his sudden fall, while this trailer promises to give us insides, we’re counting on Rajat Kapoor’s dialogues and Emraan Hashmi’s performance. Even if the film holds strong enough to a fraction part of the true story, we believe Azhar has an opportunity in hand. At one point of time when a Pakistani batsman asks him to come on their side in the name of ‘Allah’, Azhar gently replies – “Bade Bhai, Mohammed Mere Naam Mein Bhi Hai!” Well I’m looking forward to the movie on May 13th – Watch the trailer here:
