The comfort of watching a movie in the living room without having to really pay for it is widely enjoyed by Indians.

As the number of screens in India are only growing to give us unprecedented box office figures, the television viewership is moving at an even faster pace. Families have a ritual f sitting together to watch a movie whenever a big star’s movie is slated to air. While SRK, Aamir, Akshay and other such stars all satellite favorites, the final results are once again dominated by Bhai.

As Aamir Khan’s Dangal will reportedly soon make its way to the TV, it is being very closely observed if it breaks all records to become number one.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Viewership – More than 2.52 crores

The record is held by this Salman Khan starrer and understandably so! The audience that got tired watching the Rajshri treats like Hum Sath Sath Hain and Hum Aapke Hain Koun were finally served something new and they made a record when PRDP premiered on TV. The film still holds the record for being most watched in a single screening.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Viewership – More than 2.5 crores

Very very close to being number one was this Salman Khan starrer that instantly became a satellite favorite once it aired on TV. While the film made more than 300 crores through its theatrical run, the film was a blockbuster TRP wise as well.

Baahubali

Viewership – More than 2.05 crores

India’s biggest blockbuster Baahubali was certain to take the TRP meters by storm and that’s what it did. The Prabhas led period war saga thumped a rating of more than 2.05 crores and has been getting healthy ratings every time it’s on TV. Wonder what the second part is going to do!

Singh Is Bliing

Viewership – More than 1.33 crores

While the Akshay Kumar starrer may have even failed to make the 100 crore cut, it certainly made up for it once it aired on TV. According to statistics, the film was watched by more than 1.3 crores people on its TV premiere.

Sultan

Viewership – 1.31 crores

Making his third appearance in the list is Salman Khan again and the film is last year’s second highest grosser Sultan. The fact that it aired during the night slot of 8 pm perhaps stopped it from breaking all the records. The film still however is in the top five of this list.

While Aamir Khan’s Dangal is yet to make its television premiere, it will be interesting to see if Aamir Khan beats Salman Khan here. Dangal being a family drama has all chances of becoming the number one film in the list.
