Box Office Report: Hollywood Beats Bollywood Yet Again This Week

Hollywood’s trend of showing mirror to Bollywood releases in its own backyard week after week is finding new strength. After The Jungle Book and Captain America: Civil War triumphantly went pass all major Hindi releases in earlier weeks, this week belonged to the popular Hollywood franchise of X-Men. The Hollywood biggie capitalized quite well throughout the week and ended up being much ahead of the Bollywood biggie Sarbjit.

The Randeep-Aishwarya starrer Sarbjit however stayed quite low right from its release and couldn’t really garner anything substantial. Although, its low cost of production has ensured it doesn’t entail losses. After having opened a modest 3.69 crores on Friday, while the Omung Kumar directorial earned 14 crores in its opening weekend, the first week figure could only tally up to an underwhelming figure of 22 crores.

Having said that, Hollywood’s major dominance at box office for a several weeks in a row is an alarming threat that Hindi film industry should be wary of at the right time!

With Housefull 3, TE3N and Udta Punjab set to release in the next few weeks, we can hope for some respite!
