Box Office Report: Shivaay & Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Are Neck-And-Neck

Okay a quick recap: after a lot of build-up, marketing and controversies, Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn's Shivaay clashed at the box office this Diwali weekend. While Ajay Devgn's directorial got less than average reviews and decent opening, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's reviews were better and so was its numbers. 

We are mentioning this because by the end of the weekend, it looked like Karan Johar's movie would simple annihilate Ajay Devgn's passion project. But that is not happening!

Instead what we are seeing is a fascinating race, where one opponent got a better start but it failed to extend its lead as the other is matching it on every turn.

According to leading trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Karan Johar movie has accumulated about Rs 74 crore so far in the domestic markets.

While on the other hand, Shivaay has crossed Rs 64 crore yesterday. It is worth noting that the Ajay Devgn starrer is matching Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on key days.

While, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is still ahead of Shivaay, few would have predicted after the weekend that the race would be this close. But either way it is nice to witness that both the movies are finding audiences and minting money. That has seldom happened in Bollywood this year.

So hooray for Bollywood!
