The First Episode Of Pehredaar Piya Ki Looked OK But Was Marred By Poor Acting!

Pehredaar Piya Ki finally kick started yesterday! The show had garnered a lot of criticism and flak for showcasing the marriage of a 10 year old boy with a 19 year old girl! The promos, especially the ‘Sindoor’ promo was disturbing and looked outright creepy. And yet, a lot of viewers wanted to give the serial a chance. After all it isn’t fair to dismiss something even before watching it, isn’t it? So I decided to see the first episode of the serial and well, I am not really happy with the decision now!

The show started off fine. There is Maharaj Mann Singh of Kesar Mahal, who is a strict conservative and wants to retain all the old traditions of the Mahal for the members. And even though a part of the Mahal has been converted to a hotel, he keeps in mind that he manages both in the best way possible.

But thanks to his conservative nature, he apparently has many enemies. And someone even tried to poison his son!

Well, that sounds like an interesting plotline, but the acting makes it worse. For God’s sake, if someone attempted to poison your son, you do not speak the way these characters were speaking! The mother is supposed to be hysterical and I do not think she will confront the suspect in the way the actress was doing it. Moreover, the father showed limited sign of tension and the scene clearly lacked the feels!

So what can be the solution. Obviously keep a pehredaar or bodyguard! But how did this woman become his wife and how did she turn out to be the pehredaar will be revealed in the upcoming shows.

Later in the show, we see Ratan banna following Diya, totally enamored by her. Yes, he is 9 and she is 19. But we do see children crush over their teachers or their seniors so many times. While that was ok, the creepy part was when Diya is about to fall and Ratan comes in to hold her! Well,the quintessential romantic scene played out by these two made me super uncomfortable.

Overall, the story of the show sounds interesting till now, but the acting is a super let down. I hope that the makers will handle this topic with sensitivity and will avoid the creepy parts!
