Game Of Thrones Episode 8 Review: No One Is Now Finally Someone

Game Of Thrones Episode 8 Review: No One Is Now Finally Someone

If the title of the eighth of the season episode had to be after the plot we as audience had gotten tired speculating about, it’s better we start on the very note. If the makers had kept us under the fringe impression of killing off Arya out of thin air, we obviously weren’t falling for their motion. As it turned out, Arya’s long journey in the city Braavos finally seems to have come to an end. She fights off the Waif hard (though we aren’t shown), and reclaims her identity to Jaqen by saying she is Arya Stark of Winterfell who’s going back home. This one made for an absolute belter and finally there will be new prospects attached to her character.

No Jon-Sansa this time around as they have so often chose to sit a few episodes out this season.

On the fronts of King’s Landing where High Septon’s men command Cersie to appear in the court, they are given a trademark piece by The Mountain who finally shows there’s more to him than just his deadly scary looks. Her son however is still out of her touch rubbing more salts to Cersei’s wounds!

While the previews had kept us speculating of a deadly battle at ends of Riverrun, nothing of that sort transpired as Jamie’s strategic tactics of sending Edmure back into the castle yielded good results. As brief as it was, the reign of the Blackfish is done and dusted, but not before he made Lady Brienne escape out of the castle. She by the way failed too to convince him to pledge support to Sansa.

Tyrion’s diplomatic strategy that showed signs of prosperity initially, fell flat after the city got under attack. The panicking tale found some reassurance after the queen showed hale and hearty. Just wonder if Tyrion’s theory of ‘I drink and I know things’ would make him see some real reason.

It was the Hound who amongst everything had a sound day out after he was left sulking with the murder of his ‘friends’ in the last episode. Back in the element he has always been known to be in, he chopped and sliced people in ways only he could look fit in. Proper revenge followed by having a meal with people who not only recognise him but also push him to go where he belongs and fight. Let’s see what course of action does he take on now.

Jamie and Brienne’s long anticipated reunion appeared to have been underplayed but the same sense of emotion was still evidently brought out. Jamie reminds her of the sword he gave to Brienne saying it’s hers forever after she offers to give it back to him.

‘No One’ was certainly not a nail biter that you’d sit through without looking at the flowing duration, yet, it had its share of moments to not make you dislike this episode. With so many narratives colliding, it’s amazing how we are being treated to swiftly get into the mood for all.

With just a couple of episodes left before the series goes out in dark for another year, it’s only fair to anticipate some rapid action in weeks to come. Stark Vs Bolton is pretty much on and we can’t wait to see the scenes of Ramsay at the other end of Jon Snow’s sword.

9th has the legacy of being the best of the season each year so we’ll wait if the theory repeats itself next week again!
