These 5 Movies Are The Biggest Contenders For Next Year's Oscars

For a second, let's ignore that Oscars is the most hyped film award show of Hollywood. And let's also forget for a second that Hollywood is the biggest film industry in the world. Even without those things, the legacy of Oscars is strong and well-respected.

From making the careers of some of the most creative and essential filmmakers in the world to honouring the under-rated legends, the history of Oscars is filled with important moments. But none of course compares to recognising those films that deserve our attention. And that is enough of a reason that Oscars is the biggest prize in cinema worldwide: if a film is recognised by its voting members, it will live on forever.

And as the race for the next year's Oscars heats up, we thought to let you know about those movies that will be competing for that biggest prize next spring.

So, on that note, here are the movies that will most likely be on the nomination list:

#1 MANCHESTER BY THE SEA

The life of a lonely Boston janitor undergoes an upheaval when he returns to his hometown to take care of his teenage nephew. 

#2 SILENCE

In this Martin Scorsese historical drama, two priests  travel to Japan to locate their mentor and spread Christianity.

#3 ARRIVAL

Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, an expert linguist is recruited by the military to make sure whether they come in peace or are a threat. 

#4 FENCES

Directed and starring Denzel Washington, this film tells the story of an Africa-American father struggles with race relations in the Unites States while trying to raise his family in the 1950s and coming to terms with the events in his life.

#5 LA LA LAND

Following up Whiplash, Damien Chazelle brings us a musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
