Kareena Thinks She’s Balanced Work Post Marriage Quite Well, We Don’t Quite Agree, Here’s Why!

Aitraaz, Omkara, Jab We Met & 3 Idiots are the kinds of work Kareena shed out at regular intervals before she finally decided to get hitched to Saif. Heroine, Satyagrah & Gori Tere Pyar Mein is the atrociousness she’s done post that! How exactly does Kareena expect us to fall prey to her comments where she’s trying to project herself as a revolutionizing female figure? Just to give you all a background, the patronizing doctor who mostly struggled speaking Punjabi in Udta Punjab, had recently said she’s the only one to have made a perfect balance with regards to work post marriage. As far as our research goes, the word balance appears to be highly compromising!

Marriage does come up as quite a disruption in an actress’s life who then has to prioritize her work. While Kareena proudly chose to continue working, we don’t see the quality of work that can warrant her claim to be the “only A Lister” to have made a successful career after marriage. Here’s a brief timeline of her major releases post matrimony:

    Heroine (2012)

    Word of mouth: Terrible

    Box Office Verdict: Flop

Kareena had chosen to wait until the release of her much anticipated showbiz drama Heroine before she got married. While she had hoped for the film to work and enter her married life with some encouragement behind, the film backfired bigtime.

    Talaash (2012)

Word of mouth: Average to poor

    Box Office Verdict: Average

She played the kind of ghost who probably still haunts the likes of Aamir, Reema and Zoya. At a time when SRK, Salman and others were minting 100 & 200 crores, Talaash could barely touch 90. No prizes for guessing, the most underwhelming performance came from ‘Mrs. Balance Post Work’!

    Satyagraha (2013)

Word of mouth: Average to poor

    Box Office Verdict: Flop

The time had come when we really started doubting Kareena’s parameter of making choices! Despite having consciously made that decision of picking up quality work post marriage, this was yet another example of her going in the opposite direction.

    Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013)

    Word of mouth: Extremely Poor

    Box Office Verdict: Disaster

This just keeps getting better and better. As if delivering repeated flops on a loop wasn’t going enough for her, Kareena came up with a disastrous one! Starring alongside Imran Khan, this one just didn’t catch the attention of the audience.

    Post Debacles

This is where the actress probably gave herself a moment and decided to sign up movies that could at least guarantee success. Who better than Rohit Shetty, Ajay Devgn and a popular franchise! Despite having known that she would virtually have nothing to offer in a film like Singham Returns, she chose to come on board. The film came, banked on its value, earned money in the first three days and then fizzled out. No one even realized if Kareena was a part of the action sequel.

We don’t complain since she at least got a hit to her credit she could flaunt later in her ‘balanced work memo’.

Post this, the actress again got onboard on a project that had blockbuster written all over it. Also written all over it was a character in the script, cleverly ousted from the main narration under the tag of a Salman Khan movie. Realizing the success potential of the film, Kareena signed up for Bajrangi Bhaijaan and earned a blockbuster for herself again.

When the nominations came out, the child actress Harshali Malhotra was on more lists than Kareena! We know why. But who cares as long as she’s getting a hit to go in her ‘balanced work memo’ right?

Now here’s different side of the story:

Most actresses who choose to continue working post marriage (which they obviously should) change their cinematic sensibilities to mature choices and grown up roles. We’ve seen that with Kajol in K3G, Fanaa, Sridevi in English Vinglish. Kareena however had different plans!

The second sight of her on screen appearance post marriage was dancing to the lyrics that read “Main Toh Tandoori Murgi Hun Yar, Gatkaale Mujhe Alcohol Se”. An item song in Dabangg 2!

A couple of years later she chose to make another brief appearance in a song alongside Akshay Kumar in Gabbar is Back. And as if this wasn’t enough, she was again seen dancing to the tunes of Mera Naam Mary Hai from Brothers. Not that we feel like it’s not something she should do, but how does this even remotely validate the idea of her being the only A Lister balancing quality work post marriage?

Giving her credit where it’s due, Kareena has been a part of two successful films this year, Ki & Ka and Udta Punjab. But again, sorry to be a stick in the mud, wasn’t she the only character in Udta Punjab who didn’t entirely impress?

Kareena has won the best actress filmfare award in 2008 and has been nominated a number of times throughout her career. Post marriage, she has never once been nominated the category, let alone winning any!

We’ve seen the likes of Kajol, Madhuri, Sridevi and a lot of A listers working in the industry and earning good names for themselves. It was only after marriage that Kajol won the filmfare best actress award for K3G, Fanaa and My Name is Khan. How does Kareena all of a sudden become the ‘only’ actress to balance work post marriage?

If being the only actress balancing quality work after marriage accounts to doing to dreadful item numbers, shady cinematic choices and below average performances, then dear Kareena, you’re missing the whole bloody point!
