The Story So Far: Details About KRK’s Press Conference After Controversy With Karan Johar And Ajay Devgn

While Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s teaser and title track were gaining huge popularity on social media, it was evident that comparisons with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay will only gain momentum.

Although, Ajay’s Shivaay’s trailer too trended on the internet for a good 5 days, social media was abuzz with polls and interactions about which movie will the audience watch first?

The almost healthy comparison and debates took a nasty turn when Twitter’s so called menace, Kamaal R Khan aka KRK tweeted his opinion about the two movies. What followed was absolutely unprecedented because actor Ajay Devgn, released a recording of a telephonic call between KRK and Kumar Mangat  on his official YouTube channel. The content of the phone call was flabbergasting because it concluded that Karan bribed KRK to badmouth Ajay’s Shivaay.

A duly bothered and agitated Devgn released statements for the media and his wife Kajol (who is K Jo’s friend) also shared the fact that she was “shocked” at this.

While Ajay didn’t blame Karan for this and demanded a fair enquiry, KRK backfired at him by posting on social media that it was Ajay, not Karan who paid him to do this to garner publicity.

    KRK’s Press Conference

Soon after this, KRK called a press conference at his Mumbai residence. According to a leading news website, KRK said, "Ajay Devgn was a two rupees person (sic) before joining the industry and today he is a billionaire. He has no emotional connect with the industry. The only connect he has is that of money. He has not helped the old producers of Action Jackson after they suffered losses due to the movie flopping. He has never helped anyone. He has no emotional connect. He is only interested in money. During Jab Tak Hai Jaan after the demise of Yash Chopra, everyone requested Ajay to shift the date of Son of Sardaar but he didn't. That is his emotional connection with the industry.”

He further added, "He had slapped a legal case against YRF in which his contention was that in a competition you can't do anything that is not fair. He wants to do something similar in this case too. He wants to fire the gun off my shoulders with Karan as the target. He wants to show that with Karan paying me money the rules of the competition have not been fair and wants to prove the same in the court of law.”

Ajay’s latest take on the controversy

In the most recent press release from Ajay, the actor says, “We have only made you aware of what KRK has said. KRK is contradicting himself in explanations about what he has said in the recording and what we all have just heard in his postured press conference.

He has not denied that it was his voice in the recording and he is now making excuses and contradicting himself. Where is the sanity here? You have heard what I have heard. It is upto you all to decide. It’s his word against his own word.I have never in my life spoken to nor met this man."

    Karan Johar breaks his silence

After all this while, director Karan Johar has chosen to keep from making any statements on the controversy. His only reaction came from Express Adda, where he said, “He said, "My self-respect, reputation, company reputation and my upbringing doesn’t allow me to dignify this question with a response."

Further development on this story is still awaited while social media trends like 300K LIKES ON SHIVAAY TRAILER or hashtags condemning Karan Johar are trending up and down.

So far, the most apt reaction from a person of the film industry has come from film critic Anupama Chopra who tweeted this:

We hope all this mushkil ends and both the films reach out to their respective audiences, resulting in a Happy Diwali for everyone.
