Neerja is the story of a 22-year-old braveheart who greeted death with great courage. She was the senior attendant on the Pan Am Flight 73, from Bombay en route Frankfurt via Karachi, which was hijacked by 4 heavily armed Palestinian terrorists who belonged to Abu Nidal organization. Along with 379 passengers, the crew members were also held hostage by the terrorists to get the authorities to fulfill their demands. But when the flight is abandoned by the pilots (following the protocol) they see their plan failing. Neerja Bhanot being the senior attendant on the flight takes charge. 

Sans any music and dance drama, the film stands up for its content and the story it offers to the audience. There is no moment in the film where you feel the story is being dragged. There is reality, there is terror in the eyes of the passengers, there is fear when she (Neerja) is frisked by the terrorist, emotional value comes along in abundance and the film is short on nothing.

 Sonam Kapoor convincingly steps into Neerja's shoes and radiates the strength and courage that Neerja had. She looks exactly like the vivacious girl with nerves of steel. 

Shabana Azmi and Yogendra Tikku's performance as Neerja's parents is top notch! Although Shekhar has a really short on screen time the chemistry between Sonam and Shekhar is applaud worthy. Though each and every actor in the film is great, but the film belongs to Sonam Kapoor because she has been successful in portraying Neerja’s strength throughout.

The film's success would be incomplete without the beautiful art design. The set of the aircraft looks so real. The designing gives a real feel and touch that the audience.
