The Groundbreaking Story of NH10 - A Feminist's Review
NH10 is a movie that everyone will go and watch regardless of the reviews it gets primarily because of the intensity that it's trailer brought to all the viewers. Everyone has talked about Anushka's performance and how the movie is jaw droppingly gripping! However, there is a lot more to credit the movie with, than just that!
Raises serious questions on the matter of honour killing
NH10 touches upon the issue of honour killing as an offshoot of the rigidity of the caste system. The movie also has scenes that show the plight of women in a patriarchal society where the only hope for their immediate freedom is escaping the place they live in. In a scene in the movie Anushka in her efforts to run away from the murderers bangs in to their family but to the audience's surprise is protected by the murderer's wife who herself is a victim of the patriarchal society.

Broken the notion of the damsel in distress
NH10 is a story of a girl who is determined to look out for herself and her partner in face of all obstacles. As the movie progresses, the uprising of Anushka Sharma as Meera against the system primarily dominated by men comes accross as a breath of fresh air as compared to the same old tale of a heroine in need of protection
A lady Sarpanch > Useless Item Numbers
While we have gotten in to the habit of watching item numbers with heroines in zero figures and glamourous make up, NH10 presents you Deepti Naval as a strong Sarpanch, ruling the village like a boss. In the movie, she is an instrument of the patriarchal society, and kudos to team NH10 for bringing to light how patriarchy is not a fight of men against women but one of equality as women can be equal propogators of the unequal system.

Anushka Sharma as the HERO of NH10
The mind set of Anushka as Meera in the movie is a refresher right from the start. In the beginning of the movie, there's a scene in which Anushka smokes in a loo looking at the foul language that someone has scribbled on the door of the washroom. The first thing she does after finishing her smoke is wiping off those abuses. While this may have escaped everyone's mind, it has made a lasting impression on mine. The fact that 'prostitute' is an abuse in Hindi, zeroes in on the chances of respecting women who pursue this profession.
Final Verdict
In a few words, I'd conclude with Arjun Kapoor's tweet:
Maybe just add woman there!
