10 Pakistani Actresses Who Have Made Their Presence Felt In Bollywood In Recent Times!
In the last decade, there has been an influx of actors in Bollywood from other parts of the world, including Pakistan. While male actors such as Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan have their own share of stardom here, it is the female actors like Mahira Khan who have made their presence felt in Bollywood, even though their roles were small.
However, due to the Kashmir crisis, Pakistani actors have been ejected out of the country. They have faced the flak and have not signed any new projects. Pakistani actresses too have to bear the brunt as the line between art and politics has blurred.
These actresses had their hopes to become a star here, however the upliftment of the ban is still not sure.Even though they can't sign any new projects, let's look at some Pakistani actresses who made a grand debut in Bollywood.
1. Mahira Khan
Probably the most famous name in India after Fawad Khan, she made a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees. However, she couldn't promote her film in India due to the ban. She is known for serials like Humsafar, hence people already had an inkling about her.
2. Saba Qamar
This stunning actress made her Hindi debut opposite Irrfan Khan in Hindi Medium. Her performancr was worth appreciating.
3. Sajal Ali
This 23 year old actress played Sridevi's daughter in MOM. She did manage to outshine with her gritty performance.
4. Mawra Hocane
She made her debut with Sanam Teri Kasam opposite Harshvardhan Rane. Despite the film not doing well, she won accolades for her performance.
5. Momal Sheikh
She is the daughter of veteran actor Javed Sheikh. She made her debut in the dud Happy Bhag Jaayegi.
6. Humaima Malick
The 29 year old actress made her debut in Raja Natwarlal opposite Emraan Hashmi. The film was a disaster , thus dissipating her dreams in Bollywood.
7. Veena Malik
This controversial star was already in the news, thanks to her stint in Big Boss in in 2010. She has acted in Bollywood films such as Zindagi 50-50 and Mumbai 125km.
8. Sara Loren
She is best remembered for her role as Nisha in Murder 3 opposite Randeep Hooda and Aditi rao Hydari.
9. Meera
She made her debut in the movie Nazar way back in 2005. The film was the first Indo-Pakistan joint movie venture in 50 years. Despite having a limited release, she was criticised for her bold role.
10. Meesha Shafi
She had a supporting role in the blockbuster Bhag Milkha Bhag. The film recently turned 4. She has also acted in Mira Nair's film The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Apart from her acting career, she has also appeared on Pakistan's Coke Studio.
11. Madiha Imam
She made her debut in Manisha Koirala's comeback film Dear Maaya. She impressed critics with her performance and left everyone in awe.
