Pehredaar Piya Ki- How Was The First Episode Of Internet's Most Debated Show?

Internet’s most debated show Pehredaar Piya Ki finally went on air last night and the show evokes a lot of reactions.

You cannot deny the fact that this little kid Afaan Khan as Rajput Ratan Singh is a really promising actor. This new face which was selected from 25 boys has a strong screen presence and his obsession with his Kaki Sa is something to watch out for. The show signifies how easy it is to influence children, especially if you cushion them with unconditional love. But that sometimes backfires on people when they blindly trust someone.

Kaki Sa, the kid’s aunt who wasn’t shown in the first episode, apparently wants him dead. The kheer she made for him ended up spilling on the floor which killed a cat that ate it up. The reaction and concern of the child’s mother are but natural and her fears are genuine. Her struggle to keep her own son away from his aunt will make your cringe. Not showing who is playing Kaki Sa in the first episode will work in favour of the makers because inquisitive people will tune into the second episode to see who this powerful lady is. Her voice over wasn’t too impressive, but the content of her voice over, the story of a Pari meeting Rajkumar Ratan is symbolic for the show’s progression.

Tejaswi Prakash as Dia has to carry the show on her shoulders. As we saw in the promos, she is supposed to marry this child who gets infatuated by her in their first meeting. Little does he know what love and marriage mean, and his parents counsel him saying that he’s too little to marry Dia and that the legal age for a boy to marry in India is 21. Afaan takes the cake here in the first episode by his natural acting which is too impressive for a kid his age.

Ratan’s mother explains him the significance of Sindoor which I think was a bit too much for a 9-year-old kid. The first episode tries to put the debate to rest and shows some inevitable royal issues which concern the parents of this kid, given he’s the heir of the entire royal property.

There are moments in the show that will make you cringe, especially when the child holds back Dia from falling on the floor and how he imagines fighting a bear while he saves her from a mere cockroach.

As a cliff hanger, you might be compelled to watch tonight’s episode just to know who is Kaki Sa. That’s the woman we’ll look out for. She sounds more like Mahamanga (Ila Arun) from Jodha Akbar who brought up Akbar.

I’m looking forward to the treatment of the show in the upcoming episodes and I can’t wait to see who’s Kaki Sa.
