    EXCLUSIVE: Rahul Bose Speaks About Why He Made Poorna, The Clash With Naam Shabana And More!

    Rahul Bose is finally returning back to Bollywood. After his appearance in Dil Dhadakne Do, he had appeared in a Tamil and Telegu movie but was nowhere to be seen in the Hindi film industry. But the wait seems to be worthwhile. He will not just be acting this time, but will also direct and produce the movie. And it is a biopic on the youngest girl to scale Mount Everest, Poorna Malavath!

    Well, Poorna is all set to hit the theatres next Friday. Amidst this excitement, we had the chance to catch up with Rahul Bose, who will be playing the role of Poorna’s coach, Dr. R. S. Praveen Kumar. He talked about why he decided to make this film, about women empowerment, his choice of roles and when he will return to Bengali cinema. Check out the excerpts here:

    1.  About the film Poorna and why he decided to make it?

    Rahul Bose revealed that the premise of the film made him extremely interested about the movie. The fact that Poorna is a tribal girl from a poor background and hailing from Telengana which is a plain land, and she succeeded to become the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest inspired him to document her journey.

    2. About his choice of roles and whether it has been a conscious decision on his part:

    He said that all his roles have been a very conscious decision and that he made a career more out of No than Yes!

    3. Did the fact that sports biopics are doing well affect his decision to make the film?

    As a producer, Rahul reveals that this factor definitely played on his mind while making the movie.

    4. The techniques he used in the movie

    Getting the footage of Mount Everest is definitely not easy! Rahul Bose says that it was extremely difficult. He got footage from an expedition that was held in 2013. He has also used stock images and has shot at an altitude of 15,000 metres in Sikkim. Combined with this was amazing VFX.

    5. About the clash with Naam Shabana

    Rahul Bose feels that there is no clash since Naam Shabana is a big film and that there are enough theatres that will be able to screen this film. It is nothing like two massive films and two superstars clashing.

    6. About returning to Bengali cinema

    He reveals that he has been offered one. And he is excited about that since he has been offered a Bengali film after almost three years!
