Rahul Raj Puts Onus on Pratyusha, Reveals Disturbing Details About Her

Rahul Raj Puts Onus on Pratyusha, Reveals Disturbing Details About Her

While he may have been caught in the cloud of severe allegations in Pratyusha Bannerjee’s suicide episode, boyfriend Rahul Raj for the very first time came out on record to project his side of the story.  In an exclusive interview given to TOI, Rahul not only claimed innocence but went to the extent of creating a disturbing perception for the deceased actress. If one is to go by Rahul’s narration of this disconcerting chapter, Pratyusha was an indecisive young girl who he had to take care of to get her sorted.

Acknowledging the abortion story floating in the media, Rahul revealed it was a mutual decision taken by the two. “After she told me that she had missed her periods, we went to the doctor for the pregnancy test. However, we mutually decided to abort it since we were not married and only living in together. I went with her to the doctor for the abortion, but since there was a long waiting, she told me to leave. I, in fact, went the following day to the same doctor to get medicines prescribed for her. We decided to terminate the pregnancy thinking about our future as we were planning to get married in November. The post-mortem reports may have come out the very next day. Why are they talking about it now? Someone has circulated a recording claiming it to be hers where she speaks about the reason behind committing suicide, but those who knew Pratyusha will vouch that it wasn't her. The allegations don't matter to me. I don't want to comment on this”, he said.

Rahul, who was previously accused of taking Pratyusha’s advantage on financial prospects, revealed that he didn’t have a joint account with her and instead pushed Pratyusha to get a solo account for herself. “She didn't have a joint account with me. All the accounts were with her mother. In fact, I was the first one to open her solo account because she never had anything of her own. She wouldn't have any answer to my questions. I even got her Aadhaar card made. She didn't even have a passport. She has done well for herself, then how come she didn't have a single property in her name?”, he quoted.

Rahul further revealed how a number of loans and financial irregularities made Pratyusha go under deep depression. “She was in depression and had several loans on her name before I entered her life. Her EMIs were not paid on time either. A 23-year-old couldn't handle that pressure. I knew her for eight months and it was too less a time to get into someone's personal zone. We started staying together three months ago. That's when I learnt about the financial stress and depression she was going through. I even spoke to her parents two days before the incident. They never said anything against me in their first statement. If I was torturing their daughter, they would have accused me of her death first. They are doing it under the influence of people around them,” he added.

On being asked if he thought Pratyusha was suicidal, Rahul promptly replied by saying “I never felt so.”

Quashing all reports that accused him of torturing Pratyusha and physically abusing her, Rahul spoke that he was indeed planning to get married to her in November and all such reports are completely false. “People fight in every relationship but we have never had any major argument. We would fight like any other normal couple. No one can claim that they don't fight. It would be a lie”, he said.

From giving his own version of what happened on the 1st of April to projecting himself as a thoughtful caring boyfriend, Rahul’s testament of events is more of a loathing portrayal than hinting any signs of sorrow. Playing a victim card through the tragic scene, while he puts the onus on Pratyusha for being a financial and emotional mess, close common friends of the two have a different story to convey.
