Sarbjit Review: What Works For It, What Doesn’t And What Spoils It!

Sarbjit Review: What Works For It, What Doesn’t And What Spoils It!

If you had been looking for some solid reasons to go out and spend your hard earned moneys on Omung Kumar’s Sarbjit, here we are with what can work for you to get convinced to watch the film. However, since everything along has a downhill side, the film doesn’t go without its share of downers. And guess what’s interesting – the downer here is so strong it overpowers all the positives you had been savoring.

Sarbjit Review: What Works For It, What Doesn’t And What Spoils It!

Here’s what makes Sarbjit a film worth your time and moneys:

Randeep Hooda: We didn’t have a doubt about him, did we? From whatever glimpses we saw of him in the trailer, it was quite evident he was going to be the show stopper. One of our MJs Smita Vyas quotes in her review: “Randeep Hooda as Sarbjit is marvelous. Not only did he go through extreme physical changes to create the look of a person in jail for 20 years but emotionally he sweeps us into a wave of sorrow at the injustice of the situation.” So he does live up to the title character!

Lesser Known Indo-Pak Facts Surfacing: There’s a practical sense of handling of sensitive issues here and you’d admit the makers have portrayed the indo-pak internal issues quite well. It doesn’t necessarily try to paint itself as a nationalistic voice dissing all other viewpoints, it strikes a balance by highlighting the injustice going across both sides of the border.

Richa Chadha: While some of you out there may fuss about the fact she’s wasted at large with such a brief role, the plus side however is she is fantastic. Even the chemistry Randeep and Richa share along has been garnering huge praises. “Richa and Randeep share some great chemistry also as a couple and their scenes come alive”, our MJ quoted.

An Emotional Display: Even if you’re strong hearted and do not normally get wet eyed at any given situation, chances are this film may just get you to tear up on a couple of junctions. In the times we’re living in where emotional dramas are almost on the verge of extinction, Sarbjit affirms it has a heart.

Now let’s get on with some harsh talk! You know it takes a great talent to undo an earnest collective effort and someone does live up to it bigtime. No prizes for guessing our very own Aishwarya Rai spoils everything you thought was going to end up well. Having made a forgettable comeback with Jazbaa last year, she goes one step ahead here and sets a whole new bar of loudness. The actress despite a visible worked hard preparation of such a weighted character is an absolute miscast.

“Cue for Ash to start stomping, screaming, blaring her lungs out at the drop of the hat while sermonizing on Indo Pak relationships and the state of affairs between the two states”, our MJ Ameet Bhuvan quoted. Smita who otherwise had good things to say about the movie had this opinion around Aish and the film – “Sarbjit is worth a watch if you can get over the disappointment of Aishwarya Rai, look past her and see the real Dalbir.”

We gave four reasons to convince you to watch this movie? We’ll give you five to not watch it – Miscast Aishwarya, Inept Aishwarya, Overdramatic Aishwarya, Loud Aishwarya and LOUDER AISHWARYA!
