Saif Ali Khan Confirms That His Daughter, Sara Will Be Making Her Bollywood Debut With THIS Director!

Rumours have been swelling for months over Tiger Shroff’s rumoured girlfriend Disha Patani finally playing his on-screen love interest. It was reported that she was playing the lead opposite him in Student Of The Year 2 (SOTY 2), directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar.

However, it has now been reported that Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan is making her Bollywood debut with SOTY 2. She will play the role Disha was going to play.

“I am very happy she is working with Karan Johar because I think he is brilliant with newcomers and he will launch her correctly. He is a very intelligent and a passionate filmmaker and he understands films. I am very pleased that she is with him,” Pinkvilla quoted Saif as saying.

A source close to the production of the film told DNA, “Disha was finalised as Tiger was keen to have her in the film. It would mean that this off-screen pair would finally woo each other on-screen and that’s also interesting for the audience. Producer Karan Johar and director Punit agreed to Disha, as she has a pleasing personality and is confident on screen, as seen in her last release MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Kung Fu Yoga with Jackie Chan. But for reasons best known to the makers, Disha has made way for Sara.”

Sara’s mother Amrita Singh and Tiger’s father Jackie Shroff worked in four films together and now, their children will be working together. Alia Bhatt, Varun Dawan and Sidharth Malhotra rose to fame in 2012, following the release of Student of the Year.

The source added that this is yet another instance of an outsider losing out to a star kid. Karan Johar was indeed planning to launch Sara Ali Khan in a project but her name was attached to the remake of The Fault In Our Stars, which will also star Ishan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor’s brother.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Disha has lost out on a role opposite lover Tiger Shroff, who is also a star kid. Before this, Disha lost the opportunity to act in Baaghi, when Shakti Kapoor’s daughter Shraddha Kapoor was roped in.
