Should young women look upto Cannes?

Should young women look upto Cannes?

We all  know Sonam Kapoor wore a Masaba Gupta" sari+jacket palla" dress with a jutti  at Cannes this year. We know that Amy Jackson, who is apparently an actor, walked on the Cannes red carpet this year wearing an Atelier Versacecollection? (It is okay if you can't pronounce that, because neither can I )  And of course, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was at Cannes this year too, we probably know this one and got drooled over her fairy gown by Michael5inco. Ever since that year when Devdas was released and Aish walked on the red carpet wearing a jubilant dress , it seems more of some Fashion event and not about C-I-N-E-M-A.

From walking on the red carpet to being the brand ambassador of L'Oreal to the jury member of Cannes Aishwarya positioned Cannes Film Festival as some fashionistas/designers paradise where celebrities and film stars walk down the red carpet looking swans in their expensive outfits.

But do these film actors realize that there are thousands of young fans looking for them to give some basic, affordable, comfortable and non-infuriating fashion goals.

Like Sonam kapoor said in her conversation with Anupama Chopra that flawlessness is a dangerous high budget myth and it's timely shattered. If we look upto our fashion divas then there should not be any false perception. It is always ok to wear beautiful makeup and clothes because it's your choice. But we as young girls have to celebrate what we are and not pressurize ourselves for the sake of celebrities wearing those expensive outfits and putting on the best makeup.

It takes alot of money and effort to dressup the way we have been shown. Reality is far beyond that spectacular gown and  tantalising  jewellery. Girls should wear their clothes as an armour. But yet again the ball is in our court to decide.

Rather than feeling disheartened about being unable to buy the outfit your favourite celebrity wears , it's always better to be comfortable in what you have and how you wear it. For women in today's world the Elvis has not left the building and the show must go on.

So for all the young, beautiful and charming girls out there , I would like to quote these beautiful lines by Hellen Keller " The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touche . They must be felt with the heart. "
