The evergreen style diva Rekha had us sniffing into our tissues when she accepted the Hall of Fame (Female) award. “This is a reminder that my amma (mother) is still around me,” she began. She went on to address the secret to why she always prefers to don saris, and in particular, kanjivaram saris. “Wearing a sari is about my roots, my tradition, and it reminds me of my mother. I feel engulfed with love and protection. Thanks, amma, for making me stylish.” We heart!

Sonakshi Sinha threw so much shade in her acceptance speech, we could hardly handle it. She didn’t hold back while receiving the Breaking the Mould (female) award: “When I entered the film industry, people said my forehead is too big. I said so is Angelina Jolie’s, and flaunted bold hairdos. They said I’m too big, so I danced my way into big blockbusters of Indian cinema. They said I can’t do certain kinds of roles, so I went on to break the mould.” A true queen!

Akshay Kumar let loose his charming and humourous side as he went on stage to accept the Jeep Style Badge of Honour. Among the presenters was a senior official from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the company which manufactures the SUV brand Jeep. Tongue firmly in cheek, Kumar asked him if he would also be getting a Jeep, to add to the trophy. Put on the spot, the official was left with no choice but to say yes. And that’s how Akki might just have earned himself a new car purely through his wit.

TV actor Hina Khan (who won Most Stylish TV Personality — Female award) was not embarrassed or ashamed to admit that she was a tad nervous on stage. We adored her honesty when she said: “It’s my first time being among such Bollywood celebrities receiving this kind of award.” Khan managed to touch our hearts with her candour.

As Sanjay Dutt won the Style Legend (Male) award, host Vir Das pointed out that he’s always been a trendsetter in Bollywood. Das asked Dutt what style he is currently setting, to which Dutt quipped: “For the last three years, I had a style of wearing jail’s khadi kurta pyjama, topi and tilak. But I don’t wish that for Bollywood.”
