The D-day is just round the corner. Wednesday, 15th August, is pretty much-promising nothing short of fortune for theaters across the country, what with two major films - Gold and Satyameva Jayate - arriving together. While Akshay Kumar is leading the show in the former, John Abraham is carrying latter on his strong shoulders.

Thankfully though, the word 'clash' hasn't really spoilt the show for either of the two films en route release. There is marked positivity surrounding both the releases and no one in the industry is playing mischievously with any loose talk or behind-the-back banter. Credit this to the kind of goodwill that Akshay Kumar and John Abraham enjoy, as a result of everyone associated with these films is assured of the peaceful existence of both the new arrivals.

This is possible too if one looks at Akshay Kumar's last couple of major releases that saw the arrival of another strong arrival on the day of release. When Rustom released, Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro too made its presence felt. It was a regular Friday and while Rustom made 14.11 crore, Mohenjo Daro scored 8.87 crores. Of course more was expected out of the latter but then the Ashutosh Gowariker film was low on hype and the response to promo wasn't good either.

Same happened in case of Airlift v/s Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 as well. Former was a relatively dry subject and was perceived to be a docudrama in the offering. It still took an opening of 12.35 crore. On the other hand Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 benefitted from the franchise factor even though the promo wasn't anything great. Still, despite an A certificate, it managed 8.15 crore on the opening day.

It is a different matter though that Rustom as well as Airlift went on to grow from strength to strength and went past the 100 crore mark. On the other hand Mohenjo Daro as well as Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 crashed rather quickly. However that wasn't due to the clash but the fact that the final product wasn't impressive and hence rejected by the audience. However the point here is that audience did give chance to both these films too and hence allowed a respectable opening.

The same is expected this Wednesday too with the arrival of Gold and Satyameva Jayate. When compared to Rustom and Airlift, the hype of Gold is much bigger. On the other hand Satyameva Jayate too is much better positioned amongst the audiences when compared to Mohenjo Daro or Kya Kool Hain Hum 3. This means that the Akshay Kumar and John Abraham starrer should open much bigger and hence a combined Day One of at least 30 crore is pretty much on the cards.

Unless there is a rude shock on the way, chances are quite bright that directors Reema Kagti and Milap Zaveri have stayed true to the genre of their films and made the kind of product which caters to the audiences that they have in mind. Gold by Excel Entertainment is aimed for the class audiences and hence at multiplexes and other premium screens, it should find favor amongst the audiences. On the other hand Satyameva Jayate by Emmay Entertainment and T-Series is an out and out massy film and while at single screens as well as interiors it should do quite well, even at multiplexes of smaller centers it should manage a good reach.

All in all, audiences are the one who stand to gain most because if both the films indeed turn out to be as worthy as the kind of hype that is surrounding them, there should be quite some bountiful of moolah expected to flow in days to follow.
