    Mission Mangal was not just one of the biggest releases of Independence Day, but was also one of the most anticipated films of the year. Needless to say, trade analysts and fans had expected the film to do very well. But the opening day collection of Mission Mangal was record breaking. It became the highest opener for not just Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Sonakshai Sinha or Sharman Joshi, but was also the highest opener for Akshay Kumar. The film collected 29.16 crore on Independence Day, surpassing the opening Day collection of even Kesari.

    Well, given it was a holiday, the opening day number was bound to be good. And that also meant that Friday numbers would go down. Well, that happened indeed. Friday saw a significant dip. On Friday, Mission Mangal collected 17.28 crores. The total collection now stands at 46.44 crores.

    Well, trade ananlysts have predicted that the film will trend on Saturday and Sunday. It has been collecting significantly more than the other release of Independence Day- Batla House starring John Abraham. The film should make it to the 100 crore club by the first weekend.
