Race 3 and Dutt Biopic Set To Keep The Great Run Of Bollywood Going, To Bring In At Least 500 Crore

Race 3 and Dutt Biopic Set To Keep The Great Run Of Bollywood Going, To Bring In At Least 500 Crore

In Part I of this exclusive feature I spoke about how Bollywood is back on track with back to back successes of Tiger Zinda Hai, Padmaavat, Baaghi 2 , Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid and PadMan that allowed over 900 crore to come in. In this second (and concluding) part of the feature, let's look at how things are expected to be at least reasonably good in the second quarter of the year as well.

Yes, one fact that cannot be ignored is that the influx of biggies between April to June would be much lesser in comparison. Prime reason for that is IPL due to which major big budget films typically shy away from arriving. That said, many of the upcoming releases are interesting for sure.

The one that is catching eyeballs already is Blackmail. Considering the fact that it has director Abhinay Deo in good form after Delhi Belly with quirky humor to offer, audiences have something exciting to catch in theaters. Moreover, the name Irrfan Khan by itself promises humor of a different kind that should be lapped up the patrons.

Then there is October which is Varun Dhawan 's tenth release and inarguably his most unusual as well. The youngster has been delivering one major success after another and if this Shoojit Sircar film works well with the audience as well, Varun would indeed have a lot to celebrate.

Another film that promises good footfalls is Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor 's 102 Not Out. Director Umesh Shukla has got the best of the veterans from the industry in a single frame and it looks highly unlikely that there won't be magic on screen. The promo has already set the stage for an unusual entertainer and since this is indeed a father-son story with a difference, there is good curiosity already.

As for Parmanu - The Story of Pokhran, the film may currently be in news due to all the wrong reasons but all said and done there should be right reasons opening up soon enough when the promo arrives. John Abraham has explored similar topical genre before too in Madras Cafe and hopefully the story would be repeated with Parmanu as well.

Meanwhile, one waits to see what do Karan Johar and Meghna Gulzar have in the offering for Raazi . There isn't much that has been revealed about the film when it comes to the core plot, though what one knows is that the Alia Bhatt starrer is set in Kashmir. This one is expected to be a sensitive film that should touch heartstrings.

On the other hand Veerey Ki Wedding should bring on smiles, what with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor pairing up for the latter's home production. A celebration film that should keep the 'dhols' and 'baaraatis' engaged, Veerey Ki Wedding is made by the director of Sonam's Khoobsoorat, Shashanka Ghosh, with Ekta Kapoor backing it up.

While one hopes that most of the aforementioned films work well at the Box Office, the ones that should bring in big bucks are Race 3 and Sanjay Dutt biopic, both of which release within a space of 15 days in June. Now these are the biggies on which a lot is riding and mega bucks are expected to flow in as well once they open in theaters.

Salman Khan has already shown that when it comes to hardcore action and thrills, there is no one better than him to bring on the masses. That has already happened with Tiger Zinda Hai just a few months back and nothing less is expected from Race 3 either. As a franchise, Race is huge and now that it has become even bigger and better with an ensemble of starcast, it is set to be a huge Eid entertainer.

On the other hand even though the wait has been rather too long for the Sanjay Dutt biopic to hit the screens, hopefully it would indeed happen on 29th June once the release date is met. With Raj Kumar Hirani calling the shots and Ranbir Kapoor playing the title role, the stage has already been set. One waits eagerly with bated breath to check out the First Look of the film as that would decide how big it is actually.

Between just these two films, at least 500 crore is expected. As for the other releases, even if just 200 crore more coming in, the quarter would be richer by at least 700 crore that would keep the money ball moving in 2018.
