The trailer of Ahan Shetty's debut film, Tadap is here. A remake of the Telugu film RX100, the film seems to be transporting the toxicity that the original had to the Hindi version as well.

A debate has long been going on about films- the glorification of male toxicity and how a film should be careful about just representing a toxic male character versus glorifying it. This debate got stronger with the release of Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh, which was the remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Just like the original, the remake was super problematic in the sense that Kabir was presented in such a way that many in the audience would want to justify his actions and even clap for the toxicity. But it worked and minted money- so much that it became the second highest-grossing film of 2019. Now, another problematic Telugu film is being remade- RX100. Called Tadap, the trailer of the film released today and it seems to have kept all the bad parts, if we may call so, intact!

Ahan Shetty plays the angry young hero, who meets a girl, kisses and gets intimate with her and is head over heels in her love. The same narrative continues and he is separated from her. The 'Tadap' in pyaar starts and the hero beats everyone left right and centre, while screaming at the top of his lungs and burning things out. You know- what films have taught generations for years to be okay, but are not in reality! The limit reaches when he tries to strangle her, while screaming in his Tadap of course. Here's the trailer for reference.

While we like the raw intensity that Ahan is bringing to the table, and the fact and he is giving his best to the character, we still find it super toxic, as much as Kabir Singh if we may say so. In 2021, was this necessary? But before passing that judgement, we would want to wait for the film in totality, which is set to release on 3rd December.
