1.       Joy

The 2015 American drama-biography Joy, stars Jennifer Lawrence as the steadfast, strong and determined Joy Mangano. Though the film was heavily critivised for its slow pace and sub-par writing, Lawrence’s performance was praised for her ability to project her character’s true emotions thoroughly and to the tee. She is truly the master of expression.

2.       The Hunger Games

Based on an adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ novel, the Hunger Games features a dystopian society where, every year, two children from each district are made to enter an arena and fight to the death. The film itself was praised for its near-accuracy, and the storyline’s close proximity to the book. Lawrence’s performance as Katniss Everdeen was spectacular, allowing the audience to tap into her emotions and understand the events as the character did.

3.       X-Men: First Class

Lawrence portrays a shape-shifting mutant, and her ability to pull off the dichotomy that Raven faces when transforming into Mystique. She helped the audience feel and gauge what the characters felt, and was also able to thorougly depict Raven’s inner turmoil, although the film’s mood turned somewhat dark at the end.

Jennifer Lawrence returned with another well-done portrayal of Mystique. This time, however, he rperformance was somewhat reserved, and many critics attributr the film’s darkness and gloominess to her performance. Even though her acting was commendable, the film in its entirety was rather disappointing, with confusing timelines, and very angry characters.
