Bollywood is full of competition. It is difficult to survive in this maddening race without constantly delivering good performances. It takes years and years for a star to get build and leave an impact on the audience. But, this young diva proved her mettle in a short span of just 6 years and is constantly climbing new heights with every release. We are talking about the current Bollywood sensation who taken the industry by storm and has proved her prowess as a wonderful actor, Alia Bhatt.

She began her career in Bollywood with Karan Johar's Student of the Year playing the character of a teenage rich brat and bimbo Shanaya. Though she fit quite perfectly in the role, not much was expected from her. She was expected to become just another actress in the commercial cinema. But boy, did she prove us all wrong!

With her very next film, Highway, Alia proved to the critics that it is not just nepotism driving her into Bollywood. She showed everyone that she is no lesser in acting skills than anyone around. Her de-glam avatar and acting finesse won everyone's heart. Shabana Azmi praising Alia's performance in Highway said that it took her (Azmi) 9 years in the industry to display the emotional maturity that she did in Arth but Alia displayed it in her second movie itself.  Such words from the veteran speak volumes of Alia's talent.

People may still mock her because of her goof up while speaking President's name in Koffee with Karan quiz but she surely has been very intelligent with her smart film choices.

In the brief span of six years, she has done diverse roles which proves her versatility as an actor. From rich brat in SOTY to a sexually abused girl in Highway, from a beautiful and progressive south- Indian in 2 States to Bihari migrant in Udta Punjab. Her latest role of an Indian spy in Raazi won her praises too. Who would have thought that the Shanaya speaking in brand language would one day speak Bihari so effortlessly? 

It's hard to stereotype or typecast Alia after such performances. She fits into whatever role she is playing so naturally that it is hard to not get engrossed in the scene. Viewers could feel her struggle and turmoil in Dear Zindagi and I'm pretty sure, would have shed a tear or two with her in Highway.

Alia has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and yet never let their stardom overshadow her. In fact, she went on to build a persona and brand of her own. Many don't hesitate to term her as the best actress in Bollywood currently.
